Araceli Castañeda is a Canary Islands artist, born and educated in Gran Canaria in Fine Arts and Design. From 2007 to 2010 she deepened her theoretical and painterly studies in artistic ceramics. Her practice ranges from realism to recent movements such as Pop Art and Minimalism, working with mixed techniques, diverse materials and varied supports. The paintings in this exhibition revisit Canarian customs and ancient symbols, translating the archipelago’s primal imagery into contemporary colour with a fresh, pop-urban sensibility.
